Seven reasons you might choose this therapy service

I would encourage anyone to speak to different therapists before choosing one. Many therapists, me included, are always happy to respond to email enquiries or to offer free telephone consultations. There is no obligation or expectancy to have to then use my therapy service after this.

Here are some reasons you might pick this therapy service, based on feedback from clients, discussions with colleagues and my own reflections.

1. Evidence-Based Expertise

My background is in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), working with depression, anxiety, OCD, body image concerns, health anxiety, phobias, panic, and PTSD. While I draw on structured CBT techniques where helpful, I now use these approaches more flexibly, tailoring them to you rather than following a manual to the letter.

2. Specialism in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT focuses on building psychological flexibility through mindfulness, values, and behaviour change. Many clients find it especially useful for developing self-compassion and managing life’s challenges, whether or not there’s a formal diagnosis.

3. Creative, Integrative Approaches

I often blend methods beyond CBT and ACT, including compassion-focused work, “parts” approaches (like working with the inner critic), EMDR, and experiential exercises. This allows therapy to stay responsive and individualised.

4. A Collaborative Partnership

I’m an active therapist, engaged, involved, and working alongside you rather than just listening quietly. Clients often appreciate this dynamic style and the sense of shared responsibility in the process.

5. Compassion and Respect

You can expect a safe, validating space where your experiences are met with empathy and care.

6. Honest Conversations

My style is open, down-to-earth, and sometimes gently challenging. Clients have described this as “friendly but no-nonsense,” which can help move things forward in a real and supportive way.

7. Flexibility and Creativity

Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. I adapt my approach thoughtfully so that our work stays relevant, meaningful, and effective for you.
