Fees
To book a full assessment (60 minutes) £115
To book a session of therapy (60 minute sessions) £115
Why fees vary?
BABCP-accredited therapists charge £80-150 per session across the UK. The variation mostly reflects training, specialisation, and experience.
Where the value in my prices?
I'm BABCP-accredited with postgraduate training in creative and explorative CBT methods, ACT, MBCT, EMDR and IPT therapies (I was a little obsessed with developing a range of tools in my earlier career). I worked as a senior psychological therapist in the NHS (Band 8a) before private practice. That's the same level as clinical psychologists, who typically charge £130+ in private practice. I worked alongside psychologists, trained some of them in CBT, and was supervised by others.
I've trained with some of the best clinicians in the field, and I now pay for two specialist supervisors (one specialising in ACT, the other specialising in Chairwork and Compassion Focused Therapy). My supervisors are both excellent human beings, and continue to inspire me to develop.
In the NHS, I was often assigned to work with people who hadn't responded to previous therapy. For example, complex OCD, complex trauma, treatment-resistant presentations, and cases that don't fit diagnostic boxes. This was work which required flexible thinking, creativity and clinical judgement, giving me a wealth of experience with the human condition.
The other thing I'll always guarantee is an honest and authentic human being, who has been through struggles themselves, likes to use humour where possible to lighten the process, and who has also experienced a range of useful and not so useful therapy themselves at various stages of life.
OCD specialism
OCD-UK explicitly warns against choosing therapists based on price. They know that OCD treatment requires specific expertise.
Effective specialist treatment costs more per session, but is more likely to create long term change. As well as this, because specialist work is more targeted, it usually works quicker.
Making the work more affordable
Sessions are one hour, but we can plan them flexibly. If weekly sessions don't fit your budget, we can space them out. Some people come fortnightly or monthly once we've built momentum.
I work as efficiently as possible. And honestly, I always have a bit of anxiety about whether I'm providing enough value, which usually keeps me working hard to help you get what you need from the process, as quickly as possible.
I don't raise fees for existing clients. Some people I started with two years ago still pay £90 per session. If you start at £115, that's your rate regardless of what I charge new clients in future.
